GachaMAL is a free-to-play gacha game that lives in your browser and pulls its entire character roster from MyAnimeList, meaning any anime character that exists on MAL can end up in your collection. There's no fixed roster. If you've been watching obscure 2003 mecha anime, those characters can drop. The game tracks your pulls, builds your collection, and lets you set any specific character or series as a rate-up target on the Anime Banner, so getting favorites is actually possible.

The battle system is turn-based with eight elements, five character classes (Knight, Mage, Cleric, Bard, Tank), and a full proc-based gear system where the materials you craft into weapons and armour change how your characters fight, burn extensions, DEF shredding on proc, lifedrain that scales with missing HP, team barriers that trigger on hit, and more. Gear isn't just flat stats, materials used affect passives and conditional procs that add an entire layer of strategy to team composition.

Outside of battling there are several other things to do. Biome Stages give you nine distinct zones with 20 stages each, scaling in difficulty with first-clear crystal rewards and milestone gem drops at the boss stages. Dungeons are active wave-based runs where you fight deeper for better loot and can retreat to bank what you've earned. Passive Expeditions run in real time while you're offline, deploy a character, come back later, collect materials. Arena is async PvP where you set a defence team and fight other players' rosters for ranked points and seasonal rewards. The Boss Raid spawns a massive MAL character as a server enemy with a shared HP pool.

The social layer includes a friends system, gifting Hearts for the Heart Banner, a live leaderboard, and profile cards. Everything syncs across devices via cloud save. There are 14 visual themes, daily quests, login streaks, and a full achievement system. It runs entirely in the browser no download, no app store, just a URL.
